Announcing a new product line - the new Cape Cod Elegance Package
Here is my concept. Start the day with a trip to the Cape. We could pick you up by limo or you could meet us in Sandwich. Start your day of pampering with a Cape Cod Bliss Package. This is a spa and message session. After that have lunch at the Daniel Webster Inn with your friends. Next you will have a make up session, then a hair session and then we would do a Boudoir session wearing your favorite clothes. You can bring down four sets to change during the session. Your friends can help you along the way.
The session will last one and one half hours. The last half hour will be spent with Richard Talmage Photographer picking out the photos. In this package I will retouch the photos to the max and I will present you later with 10 5 x 7 photos in an album. This you could use a gift to the groom on your wedding day. Just imagine his eyes when he sees you for the first time that day. This is one of the best gifts you can buy for him.
The price for the entire day including picking you up by limo is $1875.00. If you want to cut it down to $1500.00 you could arrive by car.
Sessions will be on Saturday and Sunday. Let me know if you would like to book a session. Just like my other work I will guarantee the results with this product.
Tell your girlfriends about this. If they want a session also that day I could work up a special price for each of you. Do not worry. I have done this type of session before and I know how to be a perfect gentleman.
You can reach me at 508-539-1143 to schedule a session.

Jen and Greg's Wedding
A good day was had by all and we are currently in the process of picking out the pages for Jen and Greg's album. They were happy to have so much to choose from and like the fact that Richard Talmage Image will help as an outside observer to help pick out the photos. "It is such an emotional choice when you have to pick your photos so I was very appreciative when you decided to present us with a 143 page rough cut album and then your choice of a 50 page album. We could never have cut out the selection of this many good photos by ourselves."
With the Destination Wedding package the Bride and Groom were presented with a rough cut 143 page album in four days then the selection of the photos were placed online at the end of the first week. If you want to see the rough cut 143 album and the 50 page album picked by Richard Talmage Images click here

Wedding Photography vs. Wedding Videography
Photography started out one hundred years ago and today the cameras are also smaller and easier to handle. If you had one budget to spend which one would you choose?
When you are thinking of the two methods to capture your wedding there of course are differences. Photos are easily handled on a DVD. Photos have been said to be forever (actually photos from film used to fade in about 15 years). Since digital has not been around as long who knows. If it is the same your photos will fade. Actually after time your photos or album will end up in a closet. Very few brides keep their album out in their living rooms for 20 years. There is always an exception to he rule and I know one family whose wedding I attended in the 1970's and she still has her album out for display. The biggest difference is having someone there to capture the Audio of your day. Photos do not capture audio but video coverage does. If you are reading your vows that you have written to each other can you afford to let those words fly up in the air?
Can you also afford to pass up hearing your father, mother, grandfather or favorite friend not be heard? This is the choice. Audio comes along with moving pictures and does not come along with photos.
Which medium will give you the most fun after your day is over? Would a Hi Def DVD with all the sights and sounds of the day be important to you or would the still images on a DVD with music be enough for you?
Which is better? That still is your choice. Talk to some friends who had video and ask them how they felt about it. Be sure when you ask them that they did pick a good videographer with a good coverage. You will not get good results with a videographer for $500.00 who will cover the 8 hour day for you. That was my price on my first video wedding. I could not have produced the sample video I have on my site for the wedding at the Popponesset Inn back in 1996. If you are interested ask a videographer if you could speak to a client of his to get their views on their importance after the fact. I always ask my video clients a question of the level of Artistry between a 0 to10. I always like to work with levels of 8, 9 and 10 who want something totally unique. I have done a few 10 weddings
If you would like to speak to me as to the choice of video or photos I also have a Destination wedding package where you get both. I have a sample page on this site where you can see an example. Would you like your edit to be unique? Of course if you have any questions call 508-539-1143 and ask for Richard Talmage.

What will you remember from your wedding day?
It is hard to imagine yourself as your parents some day in the future. Just remember your activities from 15 years ago. Can you remember every trip you have taken as a child? Can you remember your grandparents as they once were just like you?
Take it from me in my 50’s. I can not remember my very best friends wedding (I was in the wedding party ) and can not remember a single thing that was said that day. I can not even remember the tv shows I watched last week. Guess what....you are going to end up just as your parents are someday and will be thinking of that special day and thinking to yourself....what do I remember?
Over time with a wedding DVD you can pop that into your DVD player and instantly be back in the room with all your family members having a good time. You can hear the rings and vows, you can hear the toasts, you can hear your best man talking of what he was feeling on the day of your wedding.
I am also a photographer and I am sure that couples who stay together can remember their wedding day from the photos. One thing they can not remember over time is the AUDIO from the day. That is a major difference between a professional photographer and a professional videographer. We are the audio specialists who capture the sounds of your day. Can you afford not to take advantage of this service even on an hourly basis?
Why would you want hire me to document your day? I have been working with hand held recorders (just like the movies) to add in extra audio during the day to enhance your AUDIO experience. Do I have to do this? No, but I like to add more to my work to make it better. That is why you should hire Richard Talmage Images to videotape your special day for you

Cape Cod Wedding Photography
I have based my product based on pricing. My $950.00 package includes the images that I create that you can have to make your own prints and album. The images are from my Nikon cameras and you will be able to crop them or make prints that are sharp.
I will continue to make albums for clients who want the whole thing done for them. In fact I can produce online albums where you can share it with your family and friends.
My background includes an artist who has been taking photos since 1978. My early work was not too good but my current work speaks for itself. Unfortunately I did toss our 12 years of my early work where I had some spectacular images of Washington, DC. In fact I have taken photos of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, Dean Martin, Debbie Boon, Ed McMahon and Jimmy Stewart. I was in the right place at the right time to be taking photos for the caterer at President Reagan's first inauguration at the Capital Center in Washington, DC. After we were finished with the shots for the caterer we traded press passes with two waiters and we had free access to the event. I walked down from the outside ring of the Capital Center and walked to the stage area. Here is Frank Sinatra rehearsing on the stage. I walked behind him and immediately had a man running around the base of the stage to snag me. He said to me......"you don't want to take photos of Mr. Sinatra from the back...come around to the front". I did what I was told and was in the best position to photograph the singers.
I only wish I had saved all the old photos. I went through a phase of tossing out old things 20 years ago and I tossed out all my beginning photos. Today I wish that I had saved some of them.

Have your ever considered the impact of video for your future?
Do your photographs speak to you and record all the sounds of your day? Do your photographs over the years stay the exact color that they were on your day? The answer to this is NO. I started out as a photographer in Washington, DC and my boss had several photos over the years in a local bakery that started to fade in about fifteen years. Once the fading started it looked worse as the years went on.
With Video we use DVD today to capture your memories and after DVD there will be HD DVD's or Blue Ray if that lasts. With your personal DVD you could also have your wedding placed on a personal hard drive. Over time you will be able to add more personal family videos and other family events to a hard drive. If you even thought as your wedding videographer as your personal family videographer you could hire them to capture your future family events. I recently has one client of mine who I produced the wedding featured on my web site (www.capecodwedding.com) that called me to document the party of their first child. They did want to add a family collection and keep it going for the future.
Needless to say today 95 percent of brides today do not consider this an essential wedding item to have at their weddings. Most consider it as an extra expense that they do not have the budget for. A recent survey done by the WEVA (Wedding and Event Association) showed that 65% of past brides wish after the fact that they had a professional video that they could have for their future.
When you think of your grandparents and how you wish you knew them better how much would you pay to have that on a DVD where you could watch anytime you want? Think of how much your children would be able to enjoy knowing their grandparents in the future. This is exactly what you are doing when you have your own wedding professional videotaped by Richard Talmage Images.
I know that things are changing and my past prices of $2500 and $4500 are not going to sell. I recently sent out 500 emails to 2009 brides and mentioned my new recession buster of $650.00 for four hours of coverage. I was amazed that several brides who responded asked me if I could cut down this price and one or two said they do not have the budget for even this special.
I guess all I am saying is that to miss out on a Professional Videographer who can capture all the audio of your day that no other vendor can do is just wrong. Do you know that a professionally edited video with your input is a singly unique gift that no one else will have. Give it some consideration and perhaps you may have to cut back the flowers, or the napkins. Take it from me it will be worth it in your future.
Just curious....what do you think?

Janey and Dean's Wedding on April 25, 2009
It was quite a beautiful day and that is the kind of day I like to work. Although my knee was causing a problem I made it through another wedding. I have not missed one wedding yet in 27 years. That is a pretty good track record. One wedding I was even one week early for. I had to laugh on that one once I realized that I was there one week ahead.

Times are tough for a lot of brides this year
If you can project yourself five years in the future which would you rather watch ( a photo album with no sound vs. a DVD with the sounds of your day. Which do you think would have more meaning to you at that moment.
If you still have any doubts ask a friend who is all ready married. On a recent survey 65% of brides who did not have video coverage wished they did.

Budget Weddings
With the response from the current recession we have decided to open up our Budget Wedding Concept. The Budget Wedding allows you to purchase a one hour ceremony if you would like to have the beautiful Audio of your ceremony captured instead of having it become lost as soon as you say it to each other. The Ceremony is the most beautiful part of any wedding especially when you are writing the vows to each other. At my special price of $500.00 for a single camera or $750.00 for two camera ceremony coverage most brides can now afford to capture this part if the even did not want the other parts of the day covered. IF you can not afford it ask for someone to donate this as a gift. It will be one of the best decisions you have made for your wedding. Today 65% of brides who did not have a videographer wishes that they did after the wedding is over. If this is good let me know.

A Free Wedding

Hope this got your attention. What am I thinking? Well I was thinking after my last post why not do a free wedding for those brides who want to submit their name and email to me via a post reaction to this post and let's see how much response I get. One bride will be selected to receive a free photo wedding of the date of their choice for a full 6 hours. I will give this special bride the images on a DVD for her to keep.
All responses for the free photo wedding should be sent to richard@capecodwedding.com with your name, date, location, time of the wedding and phone number. I will pick one winner and you will be notified by phone on April 15, 2010. No phone calls for this special will be taken. It must be a request via email.
No one tried this for 2009. Why not try it for 2010.
How is this for a special?

The Economy and Weddings
One of your biggest choices of course will be having a photographer or a videographer. Normally most people are going to drop video. One thing to remember is that you can make prints from a digital HD camera and you do gain all the sounds of your day that will be missed to eternity.
I do either photography or videography and see it from both sides. Today people are even hiring a friend to do the photos instead of a professional. What if your friend has a drink or two?
As you are thinking of your day what is really important to you after the fact? Is it the napkins you have ordered or the table placements vs. having a professional who knows how to capture your day even for just a few hours. After your day is over all you have is your memories. The most important part of the day to me is the rings and vows. In many albums that I see all the excitement, feelings and audio are not there except for a few staged photos. What about the sounds of your dad giving a toast or your best friends voices there during a reading. The choices are yours and of course you have to decide which medium is the right thing for you.
WEVA (the national wedding videography association ) has a survey out that 65% of brides who did not have video coverage at their wedding wish that they did. Do you want to be one of the group that does not have a professional videographer? Take a look at my site and decide there. If you need any help with anything I will be glad to help. Weddings in the US
Living in the US makes one feel free - free to do anything, free to live, free to love, free from traditions. While this is true, there are still many practices done during you Cape Cod or Boston wedding that renders this memorable event with a distinct American touch. Here are some:
Starting from the engagement, Americans can think of unique ways to personalize their wedding. As there really isn't any engagement tradition, the more unique the marriage proposal is done, the better.
For most wedding preparations, the engaged couple visits their parents to inform them of their recent engagement.
At times, the engaged couple hosts an engagement party. The engagement party costs less than a wedding reception since most of the time; the menu will only include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Therefore, if the couple is on a tight budget, they can just invite more guests to the engagement party if they plan to limit the number of guests during the wedding.
Most wedding preparations have a bridal shower given by the maid of honor and the bridesmaids. The groom may also have a bachelor party the night before the wedding but he has to be careful not to drink too much.
Wedding invitations should include response cards to quickly inform the couple whether the person has accepted or declined the invitation. The wedding invitations should also be sent within four to six weeks before the event.
Usually, there is a rehearsal dinner in which the wedding party and guests came from far places to be present at the wedding attend. It was practiced that the groom's parents pay for this dinner.
A bridal luncheon may be hosted for the bride's attendants during the wedding day. However, time constraints may not permit this to be part of the schedule for the wedding day. Likewise, the groom may also host a groom's dinner for his groomsmen.
Interestingly, even if the couple is not very religious, they still prefer a religious ceremony. However, this may pose a problem since in America people of different faiths and religious backgrounds get married.
Even if there are few people who believe in bad luck, some couples still make sure that the groom does not see his bride until she starts waking on the aisle. As a photographer in the 1980's I have documented many weddings where the bride and groom did see each other prior to the wedding to create some of the most meaningful photos of the day. The first time the Groom sees the Bride is a very meaningful moment and I do not feel that it ever harmed any of the many brides who have done this in the past.
What is really boils down to is to budget your time as well as your money. Most brides think of a dollar amount but I work with brides to work out a timing schedule. Since I have unlimited packages we have the opportunity to take all of the formal photos prior to the ceremony and you can then be a guest at your own wedding and walk into the party just after the ceremony.
It is still practiced that the groom and his groomsmen enter the church through a side door. The bride will then walk down the aisle with her father. In some cases when both her father and stepfather brought up the bride, she may ask them both to escort her.
During a formal reception, there is usually a bridal table where the couple and the attendants sit. Also, food and drinks should be served as the guests appear at the reception. It is very important that you take the time to eat because everyone in the room wants to speak to you but they are going to eat also so you will have a moment to sit and relax yourself.
Before, gift giving used to depend on what the guest will feel useful for the couple. Now, it is better to register for gifts so the guests will know what to bring that the couple will need.
Upon receiving an engagement or wedding gift, it is better to send a thank you note apart from saying "thank you" to the giver. This should be sent within two weeks upon receipt of the gift. Make a personalized thank you note, instead of using an impersonal generic thank you note.
These are just some American practices during weddings. Whether one chooses to this or prefers to have a very different wedding, what's more important is that American's still believe in the wedding vow, "For better or worse, 'til death do us part."
Richard Talmage can document your wedding with either Digital medium of photography or videography. In fact we also have a package where we do both. It is called our destination package. Call today to 508-539-1143 to speak to Richard Talmage. The best thing of our services is that you get the owner with no substitutions. Richard does it all from taking the images to the total production. One of those things that is important with your Cape Cod, Boston, Newport, Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket Wedding is to make sure that the person you hire is the person who will actually do the work. That is very important.

Should you consider hiring a videographer for your wedding?
I'm trying to decide if I should get a videographer or not. If you had it to do again would you hire a videographer?
Replies:
yes!!!! we went back and forth for a while on the whole videographer thing...so glad we decided to do it...the whole day was such a blur i could'nt possibly remember all the awesome/funny/touching things our videographer caught, its been so much fun to go back and relive the whole wedding, not to mention getting to see the ceremony from when it started (i.e. all my girls coming down and my mom).... i knew that i would have family taping as well, but in retrospect they barely taped b/c they were eating and dancing like everyone else, so glad i did'nt have to depend on them, b/c i wanted them to have fun too...if you can swing it i would DEF. do it!!!
Absolutely! We really debated this because of the cost. I am so, so glad that we changed our minds. We have only been married 4.5 months now and it is already a distant memory. There were some things we never saw that day, some that we just forgot and some that were so special you just wish you could see one last time. You can if you have a video. We had a wonderful photographer, but even he couldn't capture the toast my best friend gave to us, the music as my dad walked me down the aisle, or the sound of my husband's voice when he said "I do." I can't believe we ever considered going without a video.
Yes!!! Def. get one!!! It's memories for life!
Definitely! We love our video! There are so many things we would have missed if we wouldn't have had a videographer and now we have it for anniversaries and for our children and grandchildren someday.
Absolutely! It was the last thing we did actually because of the cost. However, I am sooooo glad we did it. I got to see things that I would never have been able to see through our photos - DH waiting, friends and family at the church waiting, why the musicians messed up my ceremony music, stuff that went on at the reception while we were taking pictures, stuff that I didn't see bc I was in a different room, our first dance, etc.
The video really compliments the photographs IMO.
Definately do not depend on your friends for this because trust me, they will miss out on the things you wanted to relive again most. We both have backgrounds in media (photo, video, graphics, etc) as do some of our friends. We trusted a friend who is experienced with video to do this for us. It was his gift to us.
We just got back from our honeymoon and were so excited about seeing the raw footage. I can honestly say that it makes me sick....because there was so much that was missed.
The ceremony stuff is great, I'll admit but when it came to the reception he flaked out or something. I so wanted to see me and my dad dancing; guess what he missed it.
He missed alot of things that I would have liked to see again.
If you really want to capture the day, hire a professional who knows weddings inside and out.
I could have not said this better. Hire a professional. It is worth every penny five to ten years after your ceremony. Click on my video site and you will notice my demo plus more work. You can also pause a clip and send it to your friends. IF you have any questions let me know if I can help you to capture your memories. I also have testimonials from past brides that I can send to you.

Richard Talmage Images

Photographer Richard Talmage can document your wedding with either Photography or Videography. On some events we can actually do both at the same time. That is called our Destination Wedding Coverage. If you were interested in Photography you can look at www.richardtalmageimages.com and see samples of my work and several online albums. In fact we do album coverage differently from others in the area. First we take the photos on your wedding day with an unlimited amount of time. Next we compose and online album during your honeymoon and on the Wednesday following your wedding day we have it online for you and your friends to view over and over. This rough cut album that I set up online is just like I would do it if I had an overall OK from you to design an album. Most brides want to add in there comments so we have three phone conversations to look over each page and decide what is good for you and what is not. Some brides like it all and for those who can decide quickly I will offer a 5 or 10 per cent off just so I can start to make the album. Using this method I can create albums in weeks instead of years.
If you want video coverage I can also do that and I have samples that you can see on my site under the video button. Video coverage is so important after the fact and today about 65% of brides who do not pick professional video coverage wish that they did because your day will go by so fast and the audio portion of your day is lost with photography. Video will bring you right back into your reception site for the next 30 years.
Let me know if you have any questions. On the home page of www.capecodwedding.com I have my price list on the bottom of the page. All my work is guaranteed and I promise you that you will be happy.
